The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

In Loving Memory of our dear Princess who passed from this earth too suddenly.
Princess started my love for the Breed of Dalmatians. Through her, I learned so much. I do not think I would be the person I am today if it were not for this dog. She taught me the importance of being a responsible dog owner and breeder. I could not imagine being irresponsible and causing her harm or losing her. I once lost Princess. She was outside going potty and wondered off or was picked up by someone. I searched for her for days, hung flyers, and called all the vets and the pound. Still, there was no sign of her anywhere. One day I was just driving down the road and saw her. I honked my horn and she came running. I think that is the reason she had separation anxiety. I had never seen a dog so happy to see anybody in my life. From that day on, she made sure she never left my side for long.
Princess was my first show dog. She did well but was not overly enthusiastic about doing it. We also trialed in obedience and were very successful in that venue. Where she really excelled was in agility. She loved agility almost as much as I loved her. The minute we would show up to agility class, I was never able to quiet her until she got to do her first run. After that, it was as if she was content again, for a while at least. She was always itching to run again. Of everything I did with her I was never happier seeing her so excited to do agility.
Princess passed away in July of 2008. She got into the trash and got a blockage in her intestines. We think she tried eating a stick to make her tummy feel better, unfortunately that did not work. The stick perforated her intestine and we lost her. We miss Princess daily, as do her daughter and her best friend, Jazz. I am sad to know that my son and future children will never know my sweet Princess. Solo can never replace her mother but knowing that I still have a part of Princess in Solo is very comforting.
Princess was a ham in front of the camera. She loved going to get her picture taken. She has been on the cover of several calendars over the years. She was our little "Cover Girl". Princess passed away over 3 years ago and she is still on the cover of two calendars for 2010 and continues to be a cover girl or in the Dalmatians Calendars.

In loving memory of our dear sweet Jazz.
Jazz was my first Flat Coat Retriever, but will not be my last. This special girl was a once in a lifetime dog. She taught me so much about being a responsible dog owner and the importance of pets in our lives. She was the most caring dog I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Not only did she touch our hearts, but she touched the hearts of everyone she met. She lived for "her people" to the day she died. I believe that she held on for me more than herself, she knew that I was not ready for her not to be part of my life. Even though we knew Jazz would not live forever and that she was already over 13 years old, we
hoped we would have more time with her. Unfortunately, she needed to go. Her spirit was still very much alive but her body just gave up. Jazz will always hold a special place in my heart. Rest in Peace my sweet Jazzer Girl.
